Combating antimicrobial resistance (AMR)
Developing new protocols to fight antimicrobial resistance. CLSI and EUCAST guidelines recommend against using standard Kirby Bauer disc diffusion analysis for susceptibility testing for many antibiotics, like colistin, polymyxin b and vancomycin. Unfortunately, in my home country of Pakistan, pathologists are still using these methods even when doing so is not recommended. That’s why our organization, BJ Micro Lab, is striving hard to develop easy to perform, economical, reproducible, and reliable phenotypic methods to yield genuine results for recommending these antibiotics. Because all of us need to be resistance fighters.
