Resistance Fighter's Story
I’m a resistance fighter

Combating antimicrobial resistance (AMR)

How can we allow the 100-year old Mycobacterium tuberculosis to be smarter than us? My anger starts with the limited impact on AMR and drug-resistant TB. We still are failing to find the missing millions of TB cases, and we know that many of these are drug-resistant cases. My hope is that AMR extends from discussions, and countless meetings, to concrete action for people with drug-resistant TB, especially since TB is responsible for 30% of AMR-related deaths. As a physician and Executive Director of the Stop TB Partnership, I want to see action, speed, flexibility and impact. We need to move–so what are we waiting for? Because all of us need to be resistance fighters.
