Resistance Fighter's Story
I’m a resistance fighter

Combating antimicrobial resistance (AMR)

I am a TB survivor. When I was a third year medical student, I was not willing to disclose my diagnosis due to fear of stigma. I had heard horror stories from patients who suffered from TB so I kept my story quiet. Once treated, I went on to become Ms. South Africa 2018. This was a new platform where people were listening to what I had to say. I decided to amplify the message of TB and stigma to drive change in my country and around the world. I started a campaign called #BreakTheStigma to help those affected by TB to know they are not alone. People with TB should not be afraid to ask for help. I am Ms South Africa 2018, a medical student, activist and a Resistance Fighter. Because all of us need to be resistance fighters.
