Resistance Fighter's Story
I’m a resistance fighter

Combating antimicrobial resistance (AMR)

I contracted TB in the year 2012 as a medical student at the University of Cape Town, which came as a huge surprise to me. In my mind I was not part of the demographic, but what I came to realize is a critical fact. To contract TB all we need to do is breathe. It doesn’t matter your skin color, your race, your socioeconomic status, any part of your background; all that matters is the fact that you breathe. TB is a huge problem in the world. It is the number one infectious disease killer at the moment. There is a lot of work that needs to be done in order for us to see a TB-free world. Because all of us need to be resistance fighters.
