Combating antimicrobial resistance (AMR)
We believe that access to high-quality healthcare is a fundamental human right. At CHAI, I oversee our programs focused on delivering infectious disease care. We focus on the highest-quality treatments that anyone anywhere in the world would expect for themselves or their family. This became real for me when I was diagnosed with a MRSA infection after having surgery. Within a day I had a culture result, a MRSA that was clindamycin-susceptible, and was treated and cured within six days. Programs that can effectively diagnose patients should be readily available throughout the world. So that, regardless of where they live and their economic means, they can have access to exactly the same type of care I’ve had. Because all of us need to be resistance fighters.
