Combating antimicrobial resistance (AMR)
We Surveillance is critical in identifying alarming trends related to antimicrobial resistance and antibiotics use. As an epidemiologist, I analyze and monitor prescription rates and the types of antibiotics prescribed, as well as resistance patterns of important pathogens. By transforming this raw data into meaningful pictures for healthcare professionals and the public alike, I’m helping all of us to better understand how to slow these trends down, even though we cannot stop them. But this fight cannot be fought by healthcare professionals alone. Because all of us need to be resistance fighters.
