Combating antimicrobial resistance (AMR)
The fight to eliminate AMR cannot be won without innovation. The malaria parasite multiplies exponentially in an infected person, making it highly susceptible to genetic mutation, which, after decades, has enabled malaria to become resistant to virtually every drug. Medicines for Malaria Venture and its partners are developing new medicines with simpler dosing regimens and novel mechanisms of action to kill resistant strains. We believe that tackling the threat of antimicrobial resistance will require collaborative research across diseases and disciplines to drive innovation. Because all of us need to be resistance fighters.
